12 hours work
This week there was lots of inventorying of new computers that came in. 2 laptops and some desktops. I spent all week with these customizing them for the people who would be using them with the standard software load out.
I didn't get too carried away. Although i was curious about the user accounts that the users would be using. So i made some local profiles. Later in the week i deleted them out of good measure since i found out how handling a domain actually happens.
The domain handles all of the sfos user accounts completely. Of which isn't too hard to do and fun with server 2003.
I of course did leave a single local sfosadmin account with password on these computers so that theycan be administered to while off of the domain which is also standard policy.
I also hadn't really inventoried stuff in a long time so i was remembering how to do that at the same time. Digital inventorying is easy. I just fell out of experience with the paper work side of it.
I figured out the paper work, but mainly forgot where it gets filed.
One person stopped in when my supervisor was gone for the day and i had most of the place to myself asking for if i could set him up an auto reply message for while he's gone.
Unfortunately i don't know how to do that at all. I do have access to the email server which is just a linux console interface and can put emails into people's inboxes. I just don't know how to set up an auto reply yet. I declined helping him and told him when he could come in to set up an auto reply with my supervisor because i didn't know how to.
It was a pretty inventorious week. None of the computers that were new got picked up yet.
